Day 99

The force was with me today, on May the 4th!
Was meant to be an early awakening and morning run, but decisively and unapologetically called it off, and even had boy walk the dogs. Proceeded to bed rot / semi sleep till post noon, turning over in pain and discomfort, but 'resting'. Eventually got up, headed to solarium / yard and revelled in a gorgeous sunny breezy warm spring day. Warmth with air so much better than the still, dead heat I anticipate is just round the corner. Seriously gorgeous day - dogs, me, immaculate yard, lots of tending to the pretty little things we painstakingly planted. Losing hope in harvesting any peppers this year, but still optimistic about the flowers and strawberries. Had recurring thoughts of this beautiful life we're living, in this incredible place, abundant with comforts and joys and chirping birds and fresh fruit. 4 hours of sitting in peace and positivity. Then R100, followed by Animal Farm. The movie was - in a word - fun? Which is an insane departure from the book, which i proceeded to reread the instant after we left the theater. Shocking how the movie has managed to blunt and deaden the sinister air of Orwells imaginings, and turned it almost a frivolity, packed full of cutesy chickens, fart jokes, pop music and the vile Americanised ending of good winning over evil. If anything the book revisit was an incredible sign number 3, maybe 4, in as many days - to get the "oink" of the hamster wheel. Fingers and toes and all other cross crossable things duly crossed.

Day 171

Early start. Walk, lake, kayak, sunshine after ages. The kindness of weather gods and people who cater to those that need it with pancakes, burgers, potatoes, popsicles and spicy margs. No one over heated, no one got bitten to bits, although two of us got overstimulated, one with fomo, the other with exhaustion. I will remember it for so many cuddles and so many moments of precious love and belonging. Day 21

Started thinking this on the walk. Thought I would write it then. And make these be a collection of scribbles through the day that I publish at the end of the day. But ofcourse I didnt, so here is the recap. Every single day when Crae goes for his walk, he is so intentional. So decisive. Knows exactly which way he wants to turn or which neighborhood or street or bush or field he wants to explore that day. Ofcourse he is also constantly stopping to smell the proverbial roses and open to changing his course depending on the path that smells more interesting, so there is something to be noticed about the way his explorations are equal parts intentional and spontaneous. Dang, so many things to emulate with this child! In other news - good spirits, good energy, frankly some good deep sleep. My brain on almost 2 back to back days of decent sleep.
